Gamoneu del Puerto cheese

New product

The Gamoneu del Puerto or the Gamonedo del Puerto is one of the most exclusive cheeses made in Spain. It is made in the Western Massif mountains of the European peaks in Onis and Cangas de Onis, in shepherds' cabins who produce it there along with the milk of their own livestock, and it is aged in caves also located in the mountains. Today there are only 5 certified cheese factories that produce Gamoneu del Puerto in this traditional manner. It is only made in the spring and summer for climate reasons.

It comes in wedges of approximately 210, 250, 275, 300 or 350 grams.

 Gamoneu del Puerto

The Gamoneu del Puerto is an exclusive cheese made from goat, cow and sheep milk. It is a lingering smoked cheese that is aged a month in cabins and at least another month in a natural cave. Thanks to the temperature and the humidity of the cave, the penicillium fungus flourishes in the rind giving it a more intense and special taste and smell. The Gamoneu del Puerto has a fine reddish green and blue rind, created in the smoking stage.

The Gamoneu del Puerto has a soft smoky flavor, slightly spucy and with reminiscences of natural cave and mold. A special cheese.

Buenisimo

Lo probé en una visita a Cangas de Onís y tengo que reconocer que es uno de los mejores quesos que he probado.
